Beginning Band is available to all interested 5th Grade students. The instruments students may start on include flute, oboe, clarinet, alto and tenor sax, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion. Students meet with their band director to ensure proper instrument selection. Beginning band students have lessons once every 6-day cycle. Beginning in January, students rehearse as a large ensemble twice each week. Students perform in two evening concerts, including the All-City Band Festival.
6th Grade band is available to all second year 6th grade band students. Students have a band lesson once every 6-day cycle and rehearse with the large ensemble twice each week beginning at the start of the year. Students perform in three evening concerts throughout the year, including the All-City Band Festival, as well as the Cedar Valley Concert Band Festival. Each band student also prepares an accompanied solo for the Solo Festival.
Junior High Band Programs
The Junior High Band programs at Peet and Holmes are dedicated to giving students the opportunity to grow musically, socially, and academically. Students have the opportunity to perform in the grade level bands that meet every other day. All students receive a private lesson each week. Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Solo Festival performances take place throughout the school year.

The Symphonic Band, the Wind Symphony, and the Concert Band Ensemble provide all interested in instrumental music an opportunity to participate. Uniforms are furnished and a deposit is required upon receipt of the uniform. Uniforms are cleaned by the Band Boosters before being reissued. All band members attend one class lesson per week in addition to the large group rehearsal, and participants receive one credit per semester. A total of three music credits may be used toward graduation.
