Lincoln Elementary will be participating in the Take Charge of Your Body program during the week of April 10th.  This program is a sexual abuse prevention lesson, developed by professionals (teachers, counselors, social workers, etc) from Cedar Falls, Waterloo, and surrounding areas.  The program is presented in elementary schools by trained staff and volunteers of the Family and Children’s Council.  The goal of the program is to teach children about good, bad, and uncomfortable touches.  The lessons also focus on developing a safety plan students can use if they are in an unsafe situation.  We believe that teaching students body safety and sexual abuse prevention at school, along with parents reinforcing this message at home, is the most effective way of protecting children from sexual abuse.  There will be a parent meeting in the Lincoln library on April 3rd at 6:30 for anyone wanting more information about the program.  Please contact Jen Jacobsen, 553-2977, with questions or concerns.

We would like you to attend Muffins With Mom or Donuts With Dad! These events will happen in the Lincoln Cafeteria on Monday, April 10th and the 17th, respectively. Students who are accompanied with their Mom or Dad may join us in our cafeteria beginning at 8 AM. Students and parents who are able to attend will be treated by our students to some music, a recent episode of Lincoln (Not So) Live and hospitality by our students. Please join us!

We are pleased to announce that we have an Online Directory! This is an optional opportunity for families to share contact information with other families. Our plan is to make this available digitally. If you have a need for a printed copy, please let us know. If you would like to participate, please provide information using this link and join code cflincoln: https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/join.a5w

The Cedar Valley Children's Book Festival is Saturday April 8th from 9AM-3PM at the Cedar Falls Public Library. Events at this year's festival include yoga storytimes, performances by the Parabola Youth Theater, a concert and book signing with Eric Litwin author of the Pete the Cat books, and writing workshops. There will also be crafts, face painting and photo ops with many children's book characters! For more information and a schedule of events visit the CF Public Library's website. Would you be interested in helping at this year's festival? Many volunteers are needed to staff all the events! A Sign-up Genius for volunteers can be found here.

Would your student be interested in an inclusive dance opportunity in the Fall of 2017? If so, please check out this flier!
