Farm to School
Lincoln Elementary plans to implement a Farm to School Program in the fall of 2013. The program will involve a partnering with local grocers and farms for seasonal produce to be offered to students during their snack periods. Starting the third week in September each Thursday one grade level will be served a fruit or vegetable during their snack time. One or two volunteer parents per classroom along with available student council members will prepare and deliver the snack to the classrooms. The fall snack program will run for 14 weeks as will the spring snack program for a total of 28 weeks.
Are you interested in helping with our Farm To School program? This program allows our students to have multiple opportunities to serve locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables to our students while helping them learn about healthy choices.
