Belin-Blank Center Honors Former Holmes Student
Krisha Keeran, a student at Cedar Falls High School, and a former student at Holmes Jr. High, was among the students from Iowa and throughout the nation who were recently honored at The University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center's Recognition Ceremony. Additionally, recognized students were given the opportunity to honor a teacher they credited for having a profound influence on their lives. Krisha selected Mr. Duff of Holmes Jr. High for this honor.
The ceremony was held Sunday, October 8, 2017, at the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus. Krisha was honored for research she did in the Perry Research Scholars Institute during Belin-Blank Center summer residential gifted program.
Addressing the students, teachers, and guests were The University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld, Dean Dan Clay from the College of Education, and distinguished Alumnus Christie Vilsack delivered the keynote address to teachers and Richard Su, delivered the keynote address to the students.
Mr. Duff accompanied the Keeran family as they honored Krisha’s scholastic achievements. Krisha has continued her involvement with Holmes Jr. High after moving on to the high school by coming back to be a student-coach for the Holmes Jr. High Science Club.
