The Holmes Tiger 7th grade girls basketball teams came away with a complete split against Hoover in their three games last night. The Red team began the night facing an extremely tall and physical Hoover squad. Strong defense, rebounding, and solid shooting allowed the Tigers to build a halftime lead and they never looked back from there, winning going away, 54-30. The second game saw the Holmes White team start strong but they struggled to score down the stretch. The Tigers failed to take the lead at the end and settled for an 18-all tie. The Tiger Black team finished the evening struggling to find enough offensive execution. Solid defense wasn't enough as the Tigers fell, 20-9. Holmes will next travel to Waterloo Christian tonight before closing their season at Peet on Monday.

The 8th grade girls basketball team played 2 and a half games against Hoover last night. In the first game, both teams came out playing good defense. In the second game, Holmes played some good defense with the final score Holmes 22 and Hoover 12. In the final extra half, Holmes scored 10 while Hoover had 2. Holmes next game is Tuesday at home against Mason City starting at 4:30.
