Student Life Holmes Junior HighAny 9th graders interested in wrestling this season should attend an informational meeting today during tiger time in the conference room
There will be a pep bus available for students who are interested in attending the state cross country meet on Saturday, October 29 in Fort Dodge. The bus will depart Cedar Falls High School at 8:15 AM on Saturday morning and return at approximately 3:30 PM that afternoon. Cost for the trip is $6.00. Students who want to sign up should visit the High School website and fill out the form under the athletics tab. The deadline for signing up is Friday, October 28 at noon.
Any 9th grade boys interested in going out for basketball this year, you need to sign up in the front office. There will be an informational meeting November 2nd at 3:15. Practice will start November 14th.
We are participating in a District Wide Food Drive for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank this week (October 24-28) The district has a goal of collecting 20,000 pounds of food.
Most Needed Items Include:
Foods high in protein such as canned meats (i.e., tuna, chicken, salmon), peanut butter, and canned or dried beans
Foods high in nutrients, such as canned fruits and vegetables
Whole-grain foods such as rice, cereal and pasta
Soups, chilies and stews
100 percent fruit juice
Shelf-stable milk
Personal Care Items such as toilet paper, bar soap, toothpaste/toothbrush
PLEASE NOTE: If you donate glass products, please box or bag them separately and label the box or bag “GLASS” on all sides.
We will also hold a Penny War between 1st Hour classroom. Fighting Hunger one penny at a time.
Coach Welter will be offering a strength training workout tonight. Be ready outside the weight room at 3:10. Have a ride ready to pick you up at 4:15.

Reminder to all 9th grade girls attending the road less traveled conference tomorrow: Please be at the school at 6:15 am tomorrow morning. The bus leaves at 6:30 am. Dress nicely (no jeans or sweats) and wear close toed shoes. Also bring a jacket, pillow, and snacks for the bus. See you tomorrow morning at 6:15 am.
