Welcome to day two of Earth Week! Join the Environmental Awareness Team again tomorrow in the Tiger’s Den for a bake sale! Pay with either a dollar, or get 50% off by turning in 10 cans! Here is the fact for today: Earth’s polar regions are warming twice as fast compared to the average rate of the planet. This melting ice raises sea levels dramatically causing flooding that damages habitat and impacts humans living in coastal cities and on island nations. Simple things like biking or walking instead of driving a car can help reduce the global emissions that contribute to global warming and rising sea levels.
On Tuesday, May 7th at 7 P.M. (two weeks from today) we will be holding our Senior Honors Convocation, in which we award and recognize seniors receiving scholarships from around the community and state. We are requesting that all students who have been awarded scholarships make note of them in the Senior Scholarship Recognition Form. If students fill out this document, their name and the scholarship they have received will be listed in the program. Each student will also be recognized for their accomplishments at the end of the program. This document has been posted on the Class of 2019 Schoology page, the school counseling website and in an email to your parents. The deadline to have your scholarships printed is this Friday, April 26th. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the Honors Convocation on May 7th.
The Waterloo Bucks are hiring for seasonal summer help! A Bucks representative will be available to speak to during Power Hour today in the Auditorium lobby. Stop by to visit with them and apply by sending in an application to the stadium. Open positions are cooks, concessions, warehouse, ticket takers, ushers and operations crew. A reminder that the final day to order and pay for a 2018-2019 yearbook is this Friday, April 26, 2019. The cost is $60.00 and payments can be made in the Cedar Falls High School main office. Check your Power School Balance page to see if you have purchased a yearbook. Follow the Tigers: Girls' Varsity Golf meet will begin at 11:00 am at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Rapids; Girls' Varsity Tennis will begin at 4:00 pm at Dubuque Hempstead; Boys' Varsity Tennis will begin at 4:00 pm at UNI; Girls' Varsity and JV Soccer will begin at 4:15 pm at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex; Boys' JV and Varsity Soccer will begin at 5:00 pm at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
